Dick Giordano 1932 - 2010

I was sad to learn that Dick Giordano passed away earlier today. If you are not familiar with the comics industry, you probably do not know his name, but to put it simply - today we lost one of the greats. He was a man of many talents and one of the greatest inkers who ever lived. As an editor at DC, he helped shaped the industry to what it is today. I've had the honor of meeting him at a couple of conventions and he was approachable and gracious. A smile accompanies his name every time it comes up in conversations with pros and fans alike. Whether it was his inks, his editorial guidance, his teachings and mentorship, or just his manner at cons, Dick brought out the best in people and I can think of no better way to have lived.

In his honor, I browsed through my collection and selected a few examples of his great talent. Below are some of my favorite covers that were blessed with his hand. Whether you are familiar with Dick or not, I strongly encourage you to seek out some of his work. It is not that difficult to find. His legacy is easily available whenever great comics are sold.
